The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. will be hosting a cell-phone drive as part of the Verizon Wireless HopeLine Program.

When: Wednesday Oct. 5, 2005 @ 6-8pm
Where: H St. Terrace
Why: Cell-phone donations will either be refurbished or recycled in an environmentally friendly way.  Proceeds from the HopeLine program benefit victims of domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies, providing essential communication tools of wireless phones and wireless services, and financial grants.
What is the Verizon Wireless HopeLine Program: Verizon Wireless' commitment to fighting domestic violence began in 1995 when the company - then Bell Atlantic Mobile - introduced its HopeLIne program.  Over the past 10 years, HopeLine has grown significantly and is now a multifaceted program that includes a successful phone recycling and re-use effort, financial support for local and national domestic violence organizations, community and corporate awareness programs, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies, professional sports teams, educational institutions and corporations nationwide.

For more information please contact Kimberly McKee at syz@gwu.edu.  If you want to donate a phone and cannot make the cell phone drive, please contact syz@gwu.edu.
