ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority,
Inc. will be hosting a cell-phone drive as part of the Verizon Wireless
HopeLine Program.
When: Wednesday Oct. 5, 2005 @ 6-8pm
Where: H St. Terrace
Why: Cell-phone donations will
either be refurbished or recycled in an environmentally friendly
way. Proceeds from the HopeLine program benefit victims of
domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies, providing essential
communication tools of wireless phones and wireless services, and
financial grants.
What is the Verizon Wireless HopeLine Program:
Verizon Wireless' commitment to fighting domestic violence began in
1995 when the company - then Bell Atlantic Mobile - introduced its
HopeLIne program. Over the past 10 years, HopeLine has grown
significantly and is now a multifaceted program that includes a
successful phone recycling and re-use effort, financial support for
local and national domestic violence organizations, community and
corporate awareness programs, and partnerships with law enforcement
agencies, professional sports teams, educational institutions and
corporations nationwide.
